Composer Pianist Conductor Performer Teacher

Rachel Currea

Rachel Currea is an award-winning and #1 Billboard charting Miami-based composer, pianist, conductor, and recording artist of solo piano and sacred vocal music. Her passionate, sensitive style has garnered her invitations to perform all over the world, with her debut in Amman, Jordan, at the invitation of the US Ambassador to play for members of the Royal Family (1992). She has since performed her original works to audiences in Europe, the Caribbean, the US, and Moscow, Russia, to sold-out concert halls.

Rachel began composing her relaxing piano music when she was 19 years old. Shortly after she composed her first few pieces, she suffered a serious auto accident with head and wrist injuries. For the next ten years, Rachel found it nearly impossible to compose but continued to perform and teach Piano. Her breakthrough in composing again came with learning the art of meditation. Her CD of relaxing piano solos, Inner Sound (2008), is a tribute to this creative and personal breakthrough. Her album, Walking to You (2015), a sound diary of her life following the birth of her daughter, was nominated for Best Album of the Year (2017). For her single, Imminence, she teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Jon Cohen and was named Best Female Classical Artist (2016) by IMC.

Rachel started serving as a church pianist at age 11, after beginning piano lessons at the age of 9, later adding violin and viola. Her dedication to sacred music continues in her work as a conductor, organist, organ arranger, and composer of sacred choral music. Her sacred choral album, where she served as producer, composer, conductor, and pianist, The Reformation 500 Anniversary Album – Celebration of Spirit, hit #1 on the Traditional Classical Billboard Charts (2017). 2017 also brought her the honor of presenting her commissioned vocal music, also featured on this album, in Castle Church, Wittenberg, Germany, for the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

Her dedication to teaching has yielded students who have gone on to become national recording stars in their own right, from country music’s billboard charts to the classical stage. Rachel also enjoys a collaborative piano career and has shared the stage with opera singers such as Sandra Lopez, Elizabeth Caballero, Yvette Loynaz, and Megan Barrera.

She received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano from the University of Miami. Rachel’s music is available on Pandora Internet Radio, Spotify, Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, iTunes, and Amazon. Her music explores themes of relationships, love, transformation, and spirituality.
